Donkeys are among the most loyal and intelligent animals at Majestic Meadows! These gentle creatures have been companions to humans for over 5,000 years, originally domesticated in Africa and used for transportation and farm work around the world.

Known for their patient and calm nature, donkeys are incredibly smart and form strong bonds with both people and other animals. They have excellent memories and can remember places and other donkeys they've met even after many years apart.

Our donkeys are friendly and love attention! They have distinct personalities - some are playful and curious, while others prefer quiet companionship. Their soft muzzles and gentle nature make them wonderful animals for visitors of all ages to meet.

Donkey Care

Diet

Donkeys are herbivores with efficient digestive systems adapted for sparse vegetation. They eat grass, hay, and straw, requiring less food than horses of similar size. We provide our donkeys with quality hay and ensure they always have access to fresh, clean water.

Grooming

Regular grooming helps keep our donkeys healthy and comfortable. Their hooves need trimming every 6-10 weeks, and they enjoy being brushed. Donkeys have thicker coats than horses and may need shelter from rain, as their fur isn't as water-resistant.

Social Needs

Donkeys are highly social and should never live alone. They form strong bonds with other donkeys and can also befriend horses, goats, and other farm animals. Our donkeys live in a herd where they can interact, play, and comfort each other.
