Meet Our Coatimundis
Coatimundis (also called coatis) are fascinating members of the raccoon family native to Central and South America! These agile, curious creatures are known for their long, flexible snouts and distinctive ringed tails that they often hold high while walking.
Highly social and intelligent, coatimundis are excellent climbers and spend much of their time foraging both on the ground and in trees. They're incredibly curious animals with playful personalities that make them favorites among visitors of all ages.
Our coatis are active and entertaining to watch! They love to explore, investigate new objects, and interact with enrichment activities. Their expressive faces and energetic antics never fail to bring smiles to our visitors' faces.

That amazing snout
Their flexible snouts can turn 60 degrees in any direction - perfect for finding food!
Tail communication
Coatis use their long tails for balance and to signal to each other in the group.
Matriarchal society
Female coatis and their young live in groups of up to 30 individuals called bands.
Expert climbers
They can rotate their ankles 180 degrees, allowing them to climb down trees headfirst!
Omnivorous diet
Coatis eat fruits, insects, eggs, and small animals - they're not picky eaters!
Vocal communicators
They make chirping, clicking, and grunting sounds to communicate with their band.

Our coatimundis enjoy a varied diet of fruits, vegetables, protein sources, and specially formulated zoo feed. We provide enrichment feeding activities where they can use their clever snouts to forage and search for food, mimicking their natural behavior in the wild.
Environment
Coatis need plenty of space to climb, explore, and play. We provide them with climbing structures, hiding spots, and various enrichment items to keep their intelligent minds engaged. They enjoy both indoor and outdoor spaces where they can choose how to spend their time.
